How You Can Participate

There are several ways you can enjoy the fabulous sport of reining with Silver Spurs. Depending on your personal goals and level of commitment to the sport, Silver Spurs offers solutions that will provide you with many years of enjoyment.

Professional Competition

Professional Competition is a major component of the Silver Spurs experience. As noted in our home page, our Director of Training Brett Stone, is a 26-time World Champion Reiner and the champion that rode Boomernic into the NRHA history books when together they won both of the elimination rounds (a feat that has never been achieved before or to this day) and the finals to become the winner of the 1992 NRHA Futurity. Not only did they win it, Brett and Boomernic achieved the highest scores ever recorded to that point. They are credited with changing the style of reining forever and changed reining from being an east coast dominated sport to a west coast sport. Brett and the members of his training staff compete in all of the major reining competitions in the United States.

Equine Dreaming

To enable those that share our love of horses and the sport of reining we have a private club - Silver Spurs Equine Dreaming - with members all across the country. Equine Dreaming's purpose, in addition to providing a extraordinary social environment loaded with several equine and non equine social functions, is to enable members to learn all about and participate in the Silver Spurs breeding and training process, train with Brett to learn to become a reiner, and travel to all of the major competitions as members of the Silver Spurs team cheering our horses onto victory.

Syndicates

For those that want the thrill of ownership of world class competition reining horses and breeding stallions, from time to time, Silver Spurs will create Syndicates packaging certain horses for the following purposes:

1. Competition - the purpose of these syndicates is to package colts specifically trained to compete in the major NRHA reining competitions as 3, 4 and 5 year olds, then sell the colts at a significantly appreciated value as derby horses or breeding stallions.
2. Competition/Breeding - Similar to Competition syndicates, first the colts will compete, then as either 5 or 6 year olds Silver Spurs will develop a breeding program, selling their semen to third party mare owners. Once the breeding "book" is established, the Stallion is sold as a proven breeding Stallion at a significantly appreciated value.
3. Breeding - These syndicates package stallions of proven pedigree and/or competition record with select brood mares. Their purpose is twofold: One - to develop the stallions breeding book, selling its semen to outside breeders, and Two - to breed the stallion's to brood mares handpicked by Silver Spurs for their pedigree and/or show record creating an elite line of quarter horses that will be sold as either yearlings, 2 or 3 year olds. These syndicates are long term in nature and are designed to provide a consistent annual return to syndicate investors for many years.

As soon as you come to their stalls they will stop what they are doing, usually eating, to come up to you and give you their head to receive a hug, a pat, and a friendly word.
