About Michael & Michelle Miola
Michael and Michelle Miola are the owners of Silver Spurs Equine. Retired from business life now, Michael was the Chairman and founder of Northstar Financial Services Group, a holding company for several asset management and asset servicing companies.
Born and raised in New York, horses have always been a part of Michelle and Michael's lives. In 1982, they purchased their first horse, a thoroughbred hunter jumper named Napoleon and have been hooked on riding ever since. In 1992 they purchased a horse ranch in Kiowa, Colorado and became captivated by reining.
In 2002, Michael, Michelle, and their children left New York and permanently relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona.
In 2004 Michael and Michelle decided to try their hand at breeding. Having had some bad experiences with stallion owners they wanted to breed their mares to, they decided to build a facility that would eventually house the finest breeding stallions - a place where every breeder could come, large or small, and be treated with kindness and respect. In December, 2005 Silver Spurs Equine, in Scottsdale, Arizona, became a reality.
Silver Spurs Equine's breeding program started around one stallion, the world famous NRHA Million Dollar Sire and Hall Of Fame Sire Boomernic.
In 2017 to truly compete in the prospect sale business and to finally own the most famous and highest producing living stallion in the history of the NRHA, the eternal Wimpys Little Step, Silver Spurs purchased Xtra Quarter Horses.
From Day-1 its ranch manager has been the 1992 Futurity Champion who, on the immortal Boomernic, singlehandedly ushered in the modern era of reining - Brett Stone. Today, Brett along with Sarah Flarida and Blair Bailey manage all ranch operations.
Silver Spurs has 39 of the finest stallions in the sports of Reining, Working Cow, Barrel Racing, and Quarter Horse Racing.
Silver Spurs breeds all of its famous stallions to special hand-picked mares offering the finest weanling and yearling prospects in the reining industry.
Silver Spurs is now the largest privately owned breeding facility in the USA. However, one thing that has not changed is their desire to help and be a friend to the small breeder.
