The Santa Hill Ranch IRHA/IRHBA/NRHA 3-year-old Non Pro Futurity

The CremonaFiere oval arena lit up on Friday night as the Euro100,000-added Santa Hill IRHA/IRHBA/NRHA 3-year-old Non Pro Futurity finalists performed. Making history by being the first rider from Spain to conquer the prestigious title in Italy was Andreu Nogue Puig who took the Level (L)4, 3, 2, 1 Championships riding his A Whiz N Cash by Custom Cash Advance.  In a field of 40 riders across the four levels, Nogue laid down an amazing NRHA Pattern #12 paid back by the judges with a 218.5.

The young rider showed off his personality both at home and in the show arena with his positively aggressive attitude. “The most difficult moment for me was when I was home, just before flying to the Futurity. This is not an easy show: It is ‘the’ show. I kept thinking ‘it must work and I need to do well,’” said Nogue. “After all the sacrifices my family and myself did to come here, I felt it was my responsibility to do my best. In the qualifier, all went well and, on top of leading the level 1, I also qualified for the finals in all the levels so that gave me a boost and I relaxed a little bit. Tonight, before going in, I was as nervous as ever but, when the gate opened, the only thing I saw was the show pen and I thought to myself that there was no way back. I think that a competition should always be a positive experience; either you win, or you learn something important. If you don’t win, you learn; and if you do win, you also learn.”

A Whiz N Cash is by Custom Cash Advance out of A Whiz N Wranglers and was bred by Carlo Sala. His first and only show before the Futurity was the LR Prefuturity held in Manerbio where the pair won the Non Pro Futurity Championship.  – NRHA

The 2018 NRHA L4 Open Futurity Champions, A Vintage Smoke & Jason Vanlandingham

December 1, 2018 – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – The 2018 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Open Futurity Finals featured a field 70 horses deep across the four levels and prime time division. At the end of the night after the last score had been announced, NRHA Million Dollar Rider Jason Vanlandingham, riding A Vintage Smoke for owner Diane Mesmer, secured the title of 2018 NRHA Open Level (L) 4 Futurity Champion.

A Vintage Smoke, nominated by Karl Hapcic, is by NRHA Million Dollar Sire A Sparkling Vintage and out of Lady Smoke Peppy. “I had been struggling with  some things this week. I thought my turns went as good as they could be. In the warm up pen, he was really locked in and gave me a ton of confidence,” said Vanlandingham. He went on to add, “I went for it all and ran him through the gate as hard as we could run, and he swallowed that first stop up.” A Vintage Smoke earned $142,500 for his owner and $7,500 for his nominator.    – NRHA

The 2018 NRHA L4 Non Pro Futurity Champions, Cool As Ice & Tish Fappani

For Immediate Release – November 30, 2018 – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – The competition in the 2018 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Cinch Non Pro Futurity was hot, but Tish Fappani kept her cool despite a three-way runoff for the championship. Fappani claimed her third Level (L) 4 Non Pro Championship tonight aboard Icecube, a red dun stallion by SG Frozen Enterprize and out of Taris Designer Genes, nominated by Andrea Fappani and owned by Andrea and Tish Fappani.

Fappani, who actually prefers to go earlier in the draw, drew up second to last in the second section of the finals tonight. As she entered the arena Samantha Smith riding Neverthoughtiwould and Madison Steed aboard Into The Nite were in a two-way tie with a 222 ½. After the completion of her run, a two-way tie turned into a three-way tie, but Fappani kept her cool in the runoff marking a 223 ½ and clinching the win [video].  “His first run he was really good, he is such a powerful horse, but I had a few bobbles on my end so we tied,” said Fappani “I’ve never had to do a run off at a major aged event.” She went on to add “He [Icecube] went back in there and tried even harder for me.” – NRHA

Now in its eighth year, the Silver Spurs Equine 7-and-Up Non Pro continues to thrive.

The class had 84 entries this year vying for the more than $24,000 in added money in

Levels 1 through 4 and concurrently run Non Pro, Intermediate, Limited, and Prime Time Non Pro classes.

The score to beat was set early on when Amy Stoney and Skeets Whizard competed as draw 13 to mark a 145. But it was Molly Morgenstern aboard her 9-year-old gelding Wimpys Little Freckl that topped the class to clench the championships in all four levels of the 7-and-Up Non Pro as well as the $6,000-added Non Pro ancillary class.

A Surprise Win Morgenstern and Wimpys Little Freckl, aka “Zeke,” showed 47th in the draw and scored a 146.5 for the win. They took home $8,634 in prize money, four Lawson bronze trophies, a Morrison bronze trophy, and five championship belt buckles. “Winning the 7-and-Up and all that money and hardware was a bit of a pleasant surprise for us,” Morgenstern shared. “Although I knew that I was mentally ready for a big run like that, I didn’t know if Zeke was ready to step up like he did after being off since March." – NRHA Reiner read more >>

TITAN IS COMING TO SILVER SPURS!!

Silver Spurs Equine, in its continual quest to provide the finest sires to our breeder’s, is proud to announce its acquisition of EPIC TITAN in partnership with Clinton Anderson. Clinton is a leader in the equine industry and all of us at the Silver Spurs family of companies are honored that he has selected Silver Spurs to work with to promote and manage EPIC TITAN’s exciting breeding and competitive career.

Says Clinton “Silver Spurs is the best in the world at promoting and caring for stallions, and I have the highest respect for Michael and what he’s done with the stallions in his care. Titan is a very special horse to me, and I know he’ll be in the best of hands with Silver Spurs.”

Epic Titan or as he is better known to all of his fans, TITAN, is a 5-year-old AQHA and APHA stallion by NRHA Hall of Fame Sire Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner) out of NRHA Hall of Fame Mare Princess In Diamonds. Titan’s pedigree alone is enough to make all breeders excited with the endless breeding possibilities, but that is just the beginning.

Titan has shown that he has what it takes to dominate the show pen. In his debut Championship performance at this year’s Cactus Reining Classic, Titan wowed fans with a competition crushing score of 233.5, and at his second competition, the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) earned co-reserve champion honors in the Classic Level 4 Open Finals, both with NRHA 5 Million Dollar Rider (and dear friend) Andrea Fappani at the reins.

Details about his stud fee and booking information will be released soon. However, Silver Spurs is taking reservations now to breed to Titan for the 2019 breeding season.

Call us at 480-563-1966 or email mmiola99@aol.com to reserve your breeding slot while they last.

The 2011 NRHA Hall of Fame Inductee Wimpys Little Step has hit the record books once again, becoming the association’s third Ten Million Dollar Sire.

Bred by Hilldale Farm, Wimpys Little Step is by NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire Nu Chex To Cash and out of Leolita Step. The 19-year-old stallion is owned by Mike and Michelle Miola’s Silver Spurs Equine, LLC and stands at Xtra Quarter Horses, LLC in Purcell, Oklahoma.
